Our Green Teen Internship Program is one of our most prized programs. In addition to supporting the education of the students in our neighborhood we also families with a financial respite. Many of our HS upperclassmen are able to pay for their own graduation fees, senior trips and proms. Others are able to contribute to their households and are proud to assist their parents. What remains constant is that 100% of our Green Teens matriculate into institutions of higher learning.
Each spring we interview local at-risk students for an intensive summer learning experience in agriculture and environmental sciences. During their intensive learning time, the teens study under master composters, gardeners and this year we have a professional engineer at the farm. By the end of the summer the teens complete a capstone project and have a wealth of new knowledge. For the rest of the year they remain as part-time instructors in one of our community or inter-generational learning projects.
