We are so excited that warm weather is here and summer activities have begun. What did summer mean to your childhood? You probably remember swimming, sports, camp, and trips to libraries and museums – but most of all you were happy to be out of school – and meals may not have been a concern.
Schools have dismissed until fall which is fun for some but detrimental to food insecure families. Many families who relied on the school breakfast program will find themselves unable to add additional meals to their family’s tables. What was a fun summer memory that many of us now enjoy with our own students is a frightening reality for thousands more.
In NYC, 474,000 children are at risk right now.
Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger provides an average of 10,000 emergency meals, each day, to families in need. Unfortunately, even support at this magnitude is not enough to meet the demand.
BSCAH is ready to take action, but we need your help.
It only costs us $1.25 or more to provide a meal. We are asking you to share your lunch money today or tomorrow and give us the very same $1.25 so that we can give an additional meal to a child in need. Your support, today, will allow BSCAH provide the additional meals that are required during the summer months.
